Leaders of STIBA Makassar Equip Their Students for the Vacation in the Closing Lecture

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – The presence of all the leaders of STIBA Makassar, from the chairman and his four deputies to the senate chairman, to deliver sermons during the Closing Lecture, is a reflection of their love for their students.

Like parents who are about to leave their children in a place far from their supervision, amidst their concerns about facing many challenges, it is at that moment that all the advice and goodness flow from the mouths of those parents.

That is the atmosphere depicted in every end-of-semester academic event called Haflah Ikhtitam.

The event took place at the Anas bin Malik Mosque on the campus of STIBA Makassar for male participants, and at the Aisyah Building for female participants through virtual media. The event was also attended by the parents of the students, which was broadcasted through the STIBA TV YouTube channel and Zoom.

Present at this student vacation farewell ceremony were Senate Chairman Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., STIBA Chairman Ustaz Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., Vice Chairpersons, lecturers, and all STIBA Makassar students.

In his speech, the Chairman of STIBA Makassar urged all attendees to engage in self-reflection and introspection on what they have accomplished during one semester. The director also challenged the male and female students to make use of their vacation time by creating positive content about the STIBA Makassar campus.

The event concluded with speeches from Vice Chairman I for Academic Affairs, Ustaz Dr. Kasman Bakri, S.H.I., M.H.I., Vice Chairman II for General Affairs, Ustaz Musriwan, Lc., M.H., Vice Chairman III for Student Affairs, Ustaz Muhammad Taufan Djafry, Lc., M.H.I., and Vice Chairman IV for Cooperation, Ustaz Ahmad Syaripudin, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.I.

This is the Starting and Finishing Point of a Knowledge Seeker According to Ustaz Yusran

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – “The path of knowledge, the path of heaven fighters” were the themes of the STIBA Makassar’s Even Semester Inaugural Lecture for the Academic Year 1444 H/2022-2023 M, held at the Anas bin Malik Mosque. The event was officially opened by the Chairman of the STIBA Makassar Senate, Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D.

In his speech, Ustaz Yusran reminded the students about their mabda’ (starting point) and muntaha (finish line).

“We must realize that we are temporary fighters. We have a starting point and a finish line. A person who walks without knowing how to start will be disoriented. And a person who doesn’t know when and where his destination is will keep wandering and getting lost on his journey. We are seekers of knowledge who are fighters of Allah and we walk in the pursuit of thalabul ilm,” said Ustaz Yusran at the Anas bin Malik Mosque on Monday (23/01/2023).

The Chairman of the Wahdah Islamiyah Syariah Council also quoted the words of Ibrahim bin Adham mentioned by Imam al-Baghdadi in his book Ar-Rihlah fi Thalab al-Hadith,

“Indeed, Allah exalts this ummah through the journey of the seekers of hadith (seekers of knowledge).”

“So you are the people, with the permission and taufik (guidance) of Allah, who save this ummah. Therefore, it is a joy when Allah chooses us for this purpose. But remember, our sincerity in seeking knowledge is solely for Allah. A person who struggles but is not sincere will end up in hell, and Allah will even humiliate him by being thrown into hell first,” said Ustaz Yusran.

Furthermore, Ustaz Yusran stated that the finish line for a seeker of knowledge is Allah’s paradise.

“Our finish line is not achieved by obtaining a degree from STIBA, whether it is a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. We will not stop in this struggle until our time of death,” he emphasized.

The Inaugural Lecture at the beginning of this semester was attended by all students, administrators, and male lecturers, while female students watched it through the STIBA TV channel on YouTube.

  • Need for Sincerity, Chairman of STIBA Tells Participants of Inaugural Lecture: Seeking Knowledge is Our Jihad

Need for Sincerity, Chairman of STIBA Tells Participants of Inaugural Lecture: Seeking Knowledge is Our Jihad

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – After the odd semester vacation, STIBA Makassar has started its lecture activities again. The inaugural lecture became the initial momentum for teaching and learning activities in this year’s even semester.

Head of STIBA Makassar Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. became the first speaker in the inaugural lecture which was held on Monday (23/01/2023). In his oration, Ustaz Akhmad explained many interpretations of the verses recited by the reciter at the opening of the event.

“The theme of our first lecture is Way of Knowledge, Way of the Warriors of Heaven. So, as the reciter read earlier, knowledge is jihad, therefore those who study knowledge are mujahid, warriors. The verse that was read earlier explains to us how the motivation for the struggle is in studying, because from the point of view of the flow of the verse, before verse 122 in Surah At-Tawbah,

“It is not proper for the believer to go all (to the battlefield). Why not go from each class among them some people to deepen their knowledge of religion and to warn his people when they have returned to him, so that they can take care of themselves.” (QS. At-Tawbah: 122).

Before this verse was mentioned, said Ustaz Akhmad, the flow of the previous verses talked about jihad. That jihad must face problems, must be tired, must be tiring. The challenges are many.

“So after that Allah explained that there was another field of jihad. Not all Muslims have to go down the arena to face the enemy physically, but there must be a jihad against their passions. Fighting everything that can distract us from the path of seeking knowledge. So the language is also the language of jihad. The words “liyanfiru” and “liyundziru” are the language of jihad,” said Ustaz Ahmad at the Anas bin Malik Mosque, Monday (23/01/2023).

Furthermore, Ustaz Akhmad explained that seeking knowledge is the path of jihad for those seeking knowledge. Hence the need for seriousness. Moreover, after Allah said,

“O you who believe, fight for those around you, and let them find violence from you.” (QS. At-Tawbah: 123).

As part of the form of jihad, seeking knowledge also has consequences that must be borne by the students of knowledge who are on the jihad front.

“So in the name of jihad, there are bound to be injured, some sad, crying, and some even dying. But everything will be rewarded by Allah if we are truly committed, honest about the truth of this path of seeking knowledge,” said Deputy Chairman of the Wahdah Islamiyah Sharia Council.

At the end of his speech, Ustaz Akhmad quoted two verses from Imam Syafii Rahimahullah:

    بقَدْرِ الكدِّ تُكتَسَبُ المَعَــالي ومَنْ طَلبَ العُلا سَهِـرَ اللّيالي
Heights are achieved based on the size of hard work…
Whoever wants to reach the top then he will stay up late

Whoever hopes for heights/glory without fatigue…
So actually he just spent his life to achieve something impossible…

You expect success then at night just sleep?
People who are looking for pearls must dive in the ocean

Smart and civilized people will not stay in their hometown
Leave your country and migrate to other people’s lands

Go! you will get replacements from relatives and friends
Be exhausted, the sweetness of life is felt after tired of fighting

I saw the still waters become corrupted by being held back
If it flows it becomes clear, if it is stagnant it becomes cloudy/smelly

Lions will never prey if they do not leave the nest
If the arrow does not leave the bow it will not hit the target

If only the sun in its orbit did not move and remained still
Of course humans get bored of him and are reluctant to look at him

Gold ore is like ordinary soil before being excavated from the mine
After being processed and mined, humans are busy fighting over it

Agarwood is like ordinary wood in the forest
If taken to the city it turns expensive like gold

The inaugural lecture was officially opened by the Chairman of the Senate of STIBA Makassar Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. While Ustaz Muh. Ikhsan Zainuddin, Lc., M.Sc., Ph.D. became a guest speaker for the first lecture.

This information was conveyed by Ustaz Dr. Kasman Bakry, S.H.I., M.H.I. in the Closing Lecture which was held last Saturday (31/12/2022). In fact, according to Deputy Chairperson for Academic Affairs, in August, STIBA will be able to open registration for four study programs.

“There could be four study programs to choose from because currently the Hadith Science Study Program is evaluating. It is predicted that the results will come out one or two months later. If it is published, this year’s Language Preparation batch will be splashed with the blessings of the four choices,” he said in front of the Closing Lecture participants which took place in a hybrid manner.

Regarding the Hadith Science Study Program, Ustaz Kasman gave a few leaks. He said that the curriculum was 90% complete to the same standard as the Islamic University of Medina.

Head of STIBA Makassar: The Bigger The Dream The Bigger The Challenges Faced

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – Ustaz Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. said that solidity and collaboration were needed at the STIBA Makassar institution. It is intended that work units can strengthen each other.

“The work carried out by certain units must get support from other units so that when we achieve success, it becomes a joint success. And when there is a failure then all of us feel it. That is the work of true team work,” said the Head of STIBA Makassar when giving a speech at the opening session of the STIBA Makassar Working Conference (Muskerta) XVII.

He further reminded us that the responsibility of administrators in the future will not be light.

“The bigger our dreams, the bigger the challenges we face. We are enlighted to be people who have a warrior mentality. So the values of solidity and collaboration within us need to be further strengthened,” he said in front of all Muskerta XVII participants on the forth floor of the Rectorate Building, Monday (05/12/2022).

He also expounds the wisdom from Surah al-Hujurat which the reciter recites in the opening of the Muskerta.

“In the verse that was read earlier, there are important points to maintain solidity. Sometimes there is information that needs to be validated as soon as possible, so you need to be patient. There are times when togetherness appears suudzan. All of that can destroy solidity. So we have to try to fix all of this so that our solidity is maintained,” said Ustaz Akhmad.

In this XVII Muskerta, the Quality Control Center presents awards to the best work units based on reports on the results of the assessment of Internal Quality Audit Cycle V Batch II of STIBA Makassar. The Language Development and Supervision Center (P3B) was chosen as the second best while the first best work unit fell to the Publication Section.

The XVII Annual Working Meeting took place for three days, Monday-Wednesday (05-07/12/2022). This Muskerta was attended by all work units and centers at STIBA Makassar.

  • Visiting STIBA Makassar, Prof. Syamsuddin Arif Discusses Orientalism and Diabolism of Thought

Visiting STIBA Makassar, Prof. Syamsuddin Arif Discusses Orientalism and Diabolism of Thought

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – Head of STIBA Makassar Ustaz Dr. Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A. expressed his contentment at the arrival of an expert in orientalism, Prof. Syamsuddin Arif, M.A., Ph.D. He is an academic who has completed two doctoral study programs. He is also a polyglot (a person who can speak many languages). Among the foreign languages he has mastered are Arabic, English, German, Greek, Hebrew, French, and other languages. Not surprisingly, he also succeeded in memorizing the whola Qur’an.

The Senior Researcher at the Institute for the Study of Islamic Thought and Civilizations (INSISTS) advised not to feel inferior and discouraged just because you lost in a ball game, in a war, or were rivaled in terms of science and technology. However, Muslims must remain firm in their faith and piety because on the other hand, this religion also often wins in the above matters.

“Therefore changing circumstances should not change our faith, piety and determination to remain amanu wa ‘amilu al-salihat (faith and good deeds),” he said at the Anas bin Malik Mosque STIBA Makassar, Wednesday (21/12/2022).

He further advised students to be good at thinking, good at being critical, not just taking part and not just agreeing. Opinions or remarks on social media must be treated critically.

Not only sharing knowledge with students at the Anas bin Malik Mosque, the preacher and lecturer also attended an Open Discussion and Meeting entitled Orientalism and Diabolism of Thought. This activity was a special event with the management and lecturers of STIBA Makassar on the fourth dloor of the Rectorate Building.

In his speech, the leading researcher emphasized to the STIBA lecturers to continue to be patient in teaching Islam even though they have to face various challenges and obstacles.

“The challenges of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam are far more than ours and the facilities are far less than ours, but he dared to say “layaghlibanna hadza al-amr” which in Arabic this expression contains three stresses so we can interpret it; definitely, definitely, and definitely this (religious) matter will dominate,” he said.

According to Ustaz Dr. Kasman Bakry who was the moderator of the activity, Prof. Syamsuddin has visited STIBA Makassar twice. During his first visit in 2014, Prof. Syamsuddin was present with Dr. Adian Husaini.

In the slides dissected by Ustaz Miftah, he warns against shouting at children.

“Screaming can make children carry out orders, but not because of awareness but rather our screams,” he explained.

Furthermore, the presenters also provide solutions so that children can listen to their parents’ directions.

“The condition for children to want to listen to their parents is that parents must listen to their children a lot,” he said.
