(STIBA.ac.id) Masamba – Flash floods hit Masamba City, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi on Monday (7/13) night. As a result, a number of villages were affected. Residents’ homes are buried in mud and not a few are washed away. Temporary data, 23 people died.

This flash flood caused by overflow of Masamba River. The river water discharge is getting higher because the Masamba region has been rained heavily in recent days. A number of houses on the banks of the river were flooded and some were washed away.

STIBA Makassar Mapala (Nature Lovers Students) Team moved quickly by sending its members on the first day of the incident. At the location of the flood, the Mapala team established a Logistical Command Post for victims of flash floods. They have also distributed aid to affected residents and combed the area around the houses that were buried in the ground.

The condition of residents’ houses that are buried in the ground and road axle is still hampering logistics distribution by vehicles, logistics channeling distributed by the Mapala STIBA team on foot to penetrate certain locations for logistics distribution.

Reports from the Mapala Main Post of STIBA, there are still many residents who have not received logistical support because of the difficulty of access to the location.
