“National and religious narratives, especially Islam, are actually a togetherness that cannot be separated,” he said at the National Dialogue event, Friday (19/8/2022).

He considered that the birth of the Indonesian nation taught the world how the values of divinity and faith are enthroned on the first principles of Pancasila which is the agreement of the nation to form and build a nation and state.

“The first precept, namely Belief in One Supreme God animates the next precepts by which the Indonesian nation is an example for the world on how to create a beautiful togetherness,” he explained.

Ustaz Ahmad Hanafi regretted that there was an effort to degrade national values in spirit and diversity. This has the potential to reduce the value of diversity in the spirit of nationality which is the foundation of the nation’s life.

“Paying attention to this phenomenon which has factually had an impact from the side of state security. So STIBA Makassar and Wahdah Islamiyah as “children of the nation” who are inseparable from this nation feel to be called to contribute the two values and spirit, namely the value of the spirit of nationalism and diversity, which are not only pillars but also the foundation for our lives as a nation,” he said.

The Head of STIBA Makassar also emphasized that the ulama and the government are two components that have roles and duties to realize a glorious and harmonious NKRI.

“Of course, the role of the ulama is very significant as a partner of the government which in Islamic teachings the two groups are the main pillars for goodness, peace, prosperity, and welfare of a society, nation, and state. With piety and commitment to the constitution in the applicable laws and regulations, we will create a glorious and harmonious NKRI,” he said.
