(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – STIBA Makassar’s Nature Lovers (Mapala) participated in the Clean-Up Action at Jongaya Canal organized by Mapala PT throughout South Sulawesi on Saturday-Sunday (07-08/10/2023). This two-day event involved cleaning up the litter along Jongaya Canal located on Andi Tonro Street No. 17, Pabaeng-Baeng, Temalate District, Makassar City.

This activity was carried out due to concerns about the very dirty condition of Jongaya Canal, with its water flow disrupted by a mixture of mud and plastic packaging waste.

In addition to Mapala STIBA Makassar, this event was also attended by other Mapala PT from South Sulawesi, including Mapala Veteran UPRI, Mapala UIM Makassar, Sintalaras UNM, Mapala Handayani, Mapala YPUP, Mapala PNUP, Mapala Akba, Mapala 45 Makassar, Mapala STIM Lasharan Jaya Makassar, Mahadipa STIMIK Dipanegara Makassar, Mahapati Makassar, Mapala STIEM Bongaya Makassar, and Basmalah.

Ainun Najib Herman, the Chairman of Mapala STIBA Makassar, stated that this activity is one of Mapala STIBA Makassar’s contributions to environmental care. He hopes that this event can serve as an example to the community to better maintain environmental cleanliness, especially in the canal.

“This activity is expected to raise awareness among the public to be more concerned about the environment, especially the canal. Maintaining the cleanliness of the canal is a collective duty and responsibility,” said Najib.
