The VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students, stationed in Damai Village, concluded their KKN memories with a Farewell Gathering. The event, themed “Strengthening Brotherhood on the Day of Farewell,” was warmly welcomed by the local community with joy and emotion. The gathering took place on Monday, 19th Shawwal 1445 H (April 29, 2024), at Post I next to the residence of the Head of Damai Village.

This event was the final collaborative work program implemented by the VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students serving in Damai Village. It was attended by the Head of Damai Village, the local community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas), the Heads of Billa and Bowong Hamlets, the Imam of Damai Village, imams of the hamlets, supervisors of kindergarten and TPA in Damai Village, and several invited guests who enlivened the event.

The first speech was delivered by the Field Supervisor Lecturer, Ustaz Dr. Iskandar Kato, S.T.P., M.Si., who was present with Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. In his speech, he expressed deep gratitude to the officials and residents of Damai Village for warmly welcoming the VII Batch KKN students during their assignment in the village. He also hoped that the relationship between the campus and the Damai Village community would not end with the conclusion of the KKN period.

“Hopefully, next year, the residents of Damai Village will welcome STIBA students again for KKN so that the relationship remains strong,” he said.

Next, the Imam of Damai Village thanked the VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students who regularly served as mosque imams and preachers for Tarawih sermons and Friday khutbahs, which increased the residents’ enthusiasm for worship during Ramadan.

“The presence of these KKN students has brought a fresh breeze to Damai Village in general,” he added.

Similarly, the head of the Damai Village PKK, Mr. Basri, S.M., was also very impressed with the students’ routine of reading the Qur’an.

“It seems like all the demons in this shop have disappeared because of the frequent recitations by the students,” he said.

Additionally, he conveyed his message and hope that the positive activities carried out by the KKN students would inspire the residents of Damai Village to continuously improve their worship and religious life.

“My children, I bid you farewell. Every meeting must come to an end. Take only the positives from your time in Damai Village and leave the negatives for us to fix. Don’t forget the sweet memories you have created in this village,” concluded the Head of Damai Village in his closing remarks.
