    STIBA Makassar Student Achieves Success in 2024 Kamtibnas Dai Competition

    (STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – Muhammad Radhy Makmur, a final-year student at STIBA Makassar, recently achieved success in the 2024 Kamtibnas Dai Competition.

    This competition was participated by representatives from each police sector (Polsek) in the Makassar area, with two categories of participants: Polri Kamtibnas Dai Partners and non-Polri Kamtibnas Dai Partners. Winners at the Polres level had the opportunity to advance to the Polda level and even to the national level.

    Radhy represented Polsek Manggala as a non-Polri Kamtibnas Dai Partner. The request to send a representative was conveyed by Polsek Manggala through the Secretary of STIBA Makassar, Ustaz Dr. Kasman Bakry, S.H.I., M.H.I. Despite competing against senior dai with master’s and doctoral degrees, Radhy managed to achieve third place at the Polres level.

    “I was the only participant without a degree, while all the other participants were masters and doctors. Alhamdulillah, ‘ala kulli hal,” Radhy said with gratitude.

    The 2024 Kamtibnas Dai Competition was held in commemoration of the 78th Bhayangkara Day in 2024. The event took place on June 10-12 at the Polrestabes Makassar Mosque.

    STIBA Makassar Prepares for Transition to Institute, Introduces New Programs and Status Change

    Today, STIBA Makassar hosted an important visit from the Kopertais Region VIII Team of Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, led by the Secretary of Kopertais Region VIII Sulam Papua, Dr. Nur Taufiq, M.A., accompanied by Kopertais staff and PD-Dikti Kopertais operators, on Tuesday (25/06/2024). This visit was in response to STIBA Makassar’s request for a recommendation regarding the submission of new study programs.

    At 10:30 WITA, the assessment for verifying the accreditation documents of the new study programs began in the STIBA Makassar Meeting Room. The new programs proposed are the Master’s Program in Sharia/Comparative Madhhab and the Bachelor’s Program in Da’wah Management.

    The assessment aimed to ensure the data in the accreditation documents matched the field facts. The Kopertais team conducted a thorough check of the completeness of academic documents, the availability of human resources (lecturers and educational staff), and the readiness of facilities and infrastructure supporting the implementation of the university’s tridharma.

    On this occasion, the Chairman of STIBA Makassar, Ustaz Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., also presented various preparations for the status change of STIBA Makassar from a Higher School to an Institute. The Head of the Secretariat, Ustaz Dr. Kasman Bakry, S.H.I., M.H.I., as the Coordinator of the Status Change Team, stated that the process of compiling the status change documents was proceeding well.

    The assessment was also attended by key figures from DPP Wahdah Islamiyah and STIBA Makassar, including:

    STIBA Makassar Slaughters 31 Cows and 17 Goats, Demonstrating Care and Sharing Spirit on Eid

    In celebration of Eid al-Adha 1445 H, STIBA Makassar carried out the slaughtering of qurban animals with a spirit of togetherness. A total of 31 cows and 17 goats were slaughtered on campus on Saturday, 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1445 H (17 June 2024 AD).

    The event began in the morning, following the Eid al-Adha prayer held at the Uhud Field of STIBA Makassar. The committee had prepared all the necessities to ensure the smooth process of slaughtering, including equipment, skilled personnel, and a clean location.

    The Head of the Qurban Implementation Committee, Ustaz Sirajuddin, S.Pd.I., S.H., M.H., stated that the number of qurban animals slaughtered this year had increased compared to the previous year. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to the participation and support of the donors, we were able to slaughter 31 cows and 17 goats. This is a tangible manifestation of the high level of concern and spirit of sharing from all the donors,” said Ustaz Sirajuddin.

    All committee members carried out their duties with great teamwork. The slaughtering process was conducted by an experienced team to ensure that the process adhered to Islamic guidelines and that the qurban animals were treated well.

    After the slaughtering was completed, the qurban meat was distributed to those entitled to receive it, including the surrounding community, students, and STIBA Makassar staff and lecturers who did not perform qurban this year.

    The announcement of the winners of the National Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an and the closing ceremony of the Daurah Syar’iyah at the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Islam dan Bahasa Arab (STIBA) Makassar was successfully held at the Anas bin Malik Mosque on Saturday night (08/06/2024). The event, which took place in a hybrid format, was attended by Sheikh Abdullah Az-Zaydani, Chairman of the Senate of STIBA Makassar, the Head of STIBA Makassar, lecturers, educational staff, participants, and students of STIBA Makassar. The event was broadcast live on STIBA TV’s YouTube channel, with male participants at the Anas bin Malik Mosque and female participants in the Aisyah Building Hall.

    In his speech, the Head of STIBA Makassar, Ustaz Ahmad Hanafi, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., expressed his gratitude to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for the successful organization of these two important events.

    “We extend our deepest gratitude to Sheikh Abdullah Az-Zaydani, who has given great attention from the beginning,” said Ustaz Ahmad Hanafi. He also thanked the committee, the jury, and all parties who contributed to the success of this event.

    The event continued with a sermon from Sheikh Abdullah Az-Zaydani. In his sermon, Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the importance of being grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for the blessings of knowledge and the Qur’an.

    “There is no happiness and pride except with knowledge and the Qur’an,” he said.

    Sheikh Abdullah also stressed that the people of knowledge and the Qur’an are the most honored by Allah and His Messenger.

    The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners of the National Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an. The Chairman of the Raudatul Huffazh Student Activity Unit, Muhammad Ikhsan, announced the winners of the competition, which was participated by various institutions under the auspices of Wahdah Islamiyah. The first-place winner in the 30 Juz Male Category not only received a cash prize but also earned the opportunity to perform Umrah.

    STIBA Makassar Hosts National Qur’an Memorization Competition 2024, Main Prize is Umrah Ticket

    The National Qur’an Memorization Competition 2024, organized by the Raudhatul Huffaazh Male and Female Student Activity Units of STIBA Makassar, officially opened on May 29, 2024. With the theme “Cultivating a Qur’anic Generation Ready to Serve the Ummah,” this event aims to motivate and inspire students and the community to deepen and strengthen their memorization of the Qur’an.

    This initiative by Raudhatul Huffaazh seeks to help students and the community strengthen their connection with the Qur’an and honor those who memorize this holy book. Therefore, the event is open to various groups wishing to improve their memorization quality.

    A total of 87 male participants and 53 female participants from 40 institutions registered for the competition. After the document selection process, 79 male participants and 47 female participants qualified for the next stage.

    The official opening of the Musabaqah was held online via Zoom with remarks from the Chairman of STIBA Makassar, Ustaz Ahmad Hanafi, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. In his speech, he conveyed three important messages. First, he emphasized that the Qur’an and the Arabic language are integral parts of education at STIBA Makassar. Second, he highlighted that this Musabaqah is special as it involves many institutions under Wahdah Islamiyah, serving as a platform to measure their engagement and interaction with the Qur’an. Third, he reminded that participation in the Musabaqah should be intended to perfect and solidify memorization and keep the light of the Qur’an shining in the heart.

    The Chairman of STIBA also expressed gratitude to all parties supporting this event, especially to Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Zaidani, who has provided attention and assistance since the beginning.

    The total prizes in this competition reach tens of millions of rupiahs, with an Umrah ticket as the main prize. Additionally, the Musabaqah involves dozens of competent judges to assess the participants’ abilities.

    The competition is divided into two stages: the preliminary stage, held online on May 30-31, and the final round, to be held on-site at the STIBA Makassar campus on June 8, 2024.

    Noble Mission of Dema STIBA Makassar: Distributing Free Qur’ans, 72.25% of Muslims Can’t Read the Qur’an: Let’s Help!

    The Social Department of Dema STIBA Makassar, in collaboration with Markaz Bilquran Ihtada, is distributing free Qur’ans to several Islamic boarding schools, mosques, Islamic education centers (TPA), and study circles (majelis taklim) in Gowa, Maros, and Makassar.

    This program aims to eradicate Qur’an illiteracy, which is currently a problem among Muslims. According to a survey by the Institute of Qur’anic Studies (IIQ) in Jakarta, 72.25% of Muslims cannot read the Qur’an. Therefore, the Social Department of Dema STIBA Makassar is making a breakthrough to address this issue by providing guidance and supervision gradually as a follow-up to the Qur’an Distribution activity.

    This initiative began on March 7, 2024, and has already distributed Qur’ans to various Islamic boarding schools and study circles in different regions, especially in Sulawesi Island.

    So far, this initiative has distributed 250 copies of the Qur’an, and the number continues to increase with the support of donors and the team working together with relevant parties to achieve the target.

    STIBA Makassar Holds CBT and Interview Exams for 477 First Wave New Students

    The selection exam for new students at the School of Islamic Sciences and Arabic Language (STIBA) Makassar has begun in the form of Computer Based Test (CBT) and interviews. CBT is a testing method that uses computers as tools to present and manage tests.

    The CBT exam was conducted simultaneously from 09:00 to 11:00 WITA. Meanwhile, the interview exam began at 13:30 and will last for four days, Tuesday—Friday (28—31/05/2024).

    According to information from the Admissions Committee, Ustaz Mirsyad Akbar, S.H., the CBT exam in this first wave of registration was attended by 477 prospective new students.

    “Participants who missed the exam will be given the opportunity to take the exam in the second wave later,” said the Chairperson of STIBA Makassar, Ustaz Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., in response to the absence of some candidates who were unable to attend the exam.

    STIBA Makassar deployed a team of examiners consisting of 45 members, consisting of 27 male teachers and 18 female teachers. The interview exams were conducted online through various digital platforms. Each prospective new student received a specific schedule and was contacted directly by the interviewer in charge. As of the time of this news release, most prospective new students have completed their interview sessions.

    This meticulous selection process is expected to attract the best students who are ready to make positive contributions to society.

    “I hope all parties involved, both the committee and the male and female interviewers, can work together well for the success of this new student admission process,” said the Head of the New Student Admission Department (PMB), Ustaz Ahmad Amunir, Lc.

    He also prayed for the candidates to be facilitated in answering the exam questions.

    “May Allah grant ease in answering the questions correctly,” he concluded.

    STIBA Makassar Chairman, Ustadz Ahmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., also delivered a speech at the National Islamic Unity Movement for Palestine held nationally and centered at STIBA Makassar Campus on Friday (17/5/2024).

    The hybrid event was attended by all members of the STIBA Makassar academic community, at the courtyard of Anas bin Malik Mosque, as well as Wahdah Islamiyah schools across the country online.

    Ustadz Ahmad Hanafi’s speech focused on the importance of solidarity and concern for Palestine, especially Gaza. He emphasized that the gathering in this action was not just a regular meeting, but a tangible action to show concern and support for Muslims in Palestine.

    “Allahu Akbar! This is not just a gathering. This is not just us expressing our voices and feelings. This is not just a regular meeting. This is about concern,” he emphasized.

    Ustadz Ahmad Hanafi quoted the saying of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, which emphasizes that Muslims should support each other like a strong building.

    He also called for a message to all world leaders, leaders of Muslim countries, and all humanity to pay attention to the situation in Gaza and Palestine.

    The speech, delivered in Indonesian, Arabic, and English, emphasized three important points: the need to maintain Gaza and ensure Palestinian independence, stop the genocide happening in Palestine, and ensure humanitarian and health assistance reaches the people of Palestine.

    Agung Izzul Haq, an alumnus of STIBA Makassar, recently achieved remarkable success by winning first place in the 15 Juz Qur’an memorization competition held by Umm Al-Qura University in Saudi Arabia. In an exclusive interview, Agung shared his academic journey and the motivations behind his achievement.

    Educational Background

    Agung began his studies at STIBA Makassar in 2018 and graduated in 2023. When asked about his reasons for continuing his studies at Umm Al-Qura University, Agung explained that he wanted to experience the pursuit of knowledge in one of the best places. According to him, studying at Umm Al-Qura was one of several options among various other universities in the Middle East, and he was fortunate to be accepted.

    Motivation for Participating in the Qur’an Memorization Competition

    Agung’s participation in the Qur’an memorization competition at Umm Al-Qura University was driven by his desire to expand his network. “I wanted to establish connections with fellow international students and, of course, with the scholars involved in organizing this competition,” he said.

    Competition Details and Participants

    The Qur’an memorization competition was held just before the final semester exams and was attended by about 150 participants from various countries. Specifically, for the 15 Juz category, there were 31 participants, all of whom were international students, as this competition did not include Saudi nationals.

    “The competition was specifically for international students. The process was very competitive and challenging, but it also greatly motivated us,” Agung said.

    Agung offered an inspirational message to his friends and juniors at STIBA Makassar.

    “If you want to excel in any field, don’t wait for an exam to review your studies,” he said.

    He emphasized the importance of maintaining and regularly updating one’s memorization as the key to success.

    The VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students, stationed in Damai Village, concluded their KKN memories with a Farewell Gathering. The event, themed “Strengthening Brotherhood on the Day of Farewell,” was warmly welcomed by the local community with joy and emotion. The gathering took place on Monday, 19th Shawwal 1445 H (April 29, 2024), at Post I next to the residence of the Head of Damai Village.

    This event was the final collaborative work program implemented by the VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students serving in Damai Village. It was attended by the Head of Damai Village, the local community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas), the Heads of Billa and Bowong Hamlets, the Imam of Damai Village, imams of the hamlets, supervisors of kindergarten and TPA in Damai Village, and several invited guests who enlivened the event.

    The first speech was delivered by the Field Supervisor Lecturer, Ustaz Dr. Iskandar Kato, S.T.P., M.Si., who was present with Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D. In his speech, he expressed deep gratitude to the officials and residents of Damai Village for warmly welcoming the VII Batch KKN students during their assignment in the village. He also hoped that the relationship between the campus and the Damai Village community would not end with the conclusion of the KKN period.

    “Hopefully, next year, the residents of Damai Village will welcome STIBA students again for KKN so that the relationship remains strong,” he said.

    Next, the Imam of Damai Village thanked the VII Batch of STIBA Makassar KKN students who regularly served as mosque imams and preachers for Tarawih sermons and Friday khutbahs, which increased the residents’ enthusiasm for worship during Ramadan.

    “The presence of these KKN students has brought a fresh breeze to Damai Village in general,” he added.

    Similarly, the head of the Damai Village PKK, Mr. Basri, S.M., was also very impressed with the students’ routine of reading the Qur’an.

    “It seems like all the demons in this shop have disappeared because of the frequent recitations by the students,” he said.

    Additionally, he conveyed his message and hope that the positive activities carried out by the KKN students would inspire the residents of Damai Village to continuously improve their worship and religious life.

    “My children, I bid you farewell. Every meeting must come to an end. Take only the positives from your time in Damai Village and leave the negatives for us to fix. Don’t forget the sweet memories you have created in this village,” concluded the Head of Damai Village in his closing remarks.
