(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – High rainfall for several days caused a part of Makassar City and its surroundings to be flooded. Hundreds of houses were flooded and residents were evacuated to evacuation posts or to the homes of their respective relatives.

Several sub-districts, including Biringkanaya, Talamanrea, Manggala, Panakukang, and Tamalate, are among those that have suffered quite badly.

Sunday afternoon (12/20/2020) The Mapala STIBA Makassar Team coordinated with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to evacuate residents affected by flooding in the Antang area, precisely in Block X which is the worst point in Antang District. The rising water level required the team to work fast to secure the residents.

The STIBA Makassar Mapala Team also helped distribute logistics to local residents who were affected by the flood.

Ibrahim Naufal, a member of the Mapala STIBA Makassar who is now at the Refugee Command Post, continues to monitor flood water in anticipation of the water that continues to rise. As a result of his monitoring, the urgent needs of refugees are in the form of ready-to-eat food, medicine and blankets.

Mapala STIBA opens opportunities for people who want to help ease the burden on the refugees to leave their assistance at the Mapala Post on the STIBA Makassar Campus. This aid will be distributed directly to the victims affected by the flood.
