For example, if a URL from the stiba.ac.id website is referenced by a government agency’s website or another university’s website.

Transparency/Openness – Weightage: 10% Webometrics Transparency is evaluated based on the number of citations of public profiles. In this case, it mainly focuses on the individual public profiles within the institution. The tool used by the team is Google Scholar Profiles.

Excellence/Scholar (Top Citation Papers) – Weightage: 40% Webometrics Excellence is an indicator that assesses the number of papers among the top 10% most cited in 27 academic disciplines. The data collected for this indicator is from the five-year period of 2015-2019. The tool used by the evaluators is Scimago, a website for online journal ranking. Through acclamation, the participants of the consultation decided to retain the Chairman of STIBA and Senate Chairman for the 2019-2023 term as the leaders of STIBA Makassar for the upcoming 2023-2027 term.

Ustaz Akhmad Hanafi Dain Yunta, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., the current Chairman of STIBA Makassar, who will soon conclude his term, was reelected to lead STIBA Makassar. His success in advancing STIBA during his tenure, as well as his dedication and high commitment, were the main factors in the decision.

Similarly, Ustaz Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A., Ph.D., the Senate Chairman of STIBA Makassar, was also reelected to lead the Senate in the upcoming term. His strong leadership and profound understanding of educational and academic issues make him the right choice to continue leading the institution.

Both elected leaders, the Chairman of STIBA and the Senate Chairman, consider the positions as a weighty trust but remain committed to improving STIBA Makassar and strengthening the quality of education.

Aware of the weight of the responsibility entrusted to him, Ustaz Akhmad seeks guidance and blessings from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala in carrying out his duties as the director of STIBA.

“Indeed, this trust is very heavy, and of course, we all are responsible for taking STIBA to a better direction. Therefore, I seek guidance from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, protection, and hopefully, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala grants us the strength to build STIBA together in the future, towards a better direction.”

“And personally, I apologize if there were many shortcomings in the first period. Hopefully, these shortcomings can be minimized, and even better, overcome in this second period,” he continued.

  • Speaker at the Studium Generale in STIBA Makassar, Mufti of Perlis Malaysia Urges Indonesian Muslims to Establish the Council of Nusantara Scholars

Speaker at the Studium Generale in STIBA Makassar, Mufti of Perlis Malaysia Urges Indonesian Muslims to Establish the Council of Nusantara Scholars

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – The School of Islamic Sciences and Arabic Language (STIBA) Makassar organized a Studium Generale featuring Prof. Dato’ Arif Perkasa Dr. Mohd. Asri bin Zainul Abidin as the speaker. The event was attended by thousands of participants, including lecturers, students, and the general public. It took place at the Anas bin Malik Mosque on the STIBA Makassar campus and was livestreamed on the STIBA TV and PROmediaTAJDID YouTube channels on Thursday (6/1/2023).

The Mufti of Perlis Malaysia shared the story of his visit to STIBA Makassar, which took place when he met with the General Leader of Wahdah Islamiyah, Ustaz Zaitun Rasmin, at the Southeast Asian Ahlus Sunnah Multaqa on May 20, 2023.

“Thank you for welcoming me to this gathering. I came here to extend the greetings of Islamic brotherhood. I traveled from afar after getting acquainted with Sheikh Dr. Zaitun and learning about Wahdah and STIBA here,” he said.

Ustaz Zaitun explained that the Southeast Asian Ahlus Sunnah Multaqa, which was held in Perlis recently, aimed to strengthen the brotherhood of Muslims.

“I discussed with Dr. Zaitun that I am making an effort to unite the large Muslim community in the Nusantara region, specifically Indonesia and Malaysia. We are a great community, with Indonesia having a population of approximately 300 million and Malaysia having over 20 million Muslims. However, we are sometimes divided by various matters, separated by the boundaries created by colonizers, with the British in Malaysia and the Dutch in Indonesia,” said the Mufti of Perlis.

Meanwhile, according to Prof. MAZA, as he is affectionately known, we often read the words of Allah in the Qur’an:

“And We have certainly created you into nations and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” (Quran, Al-Hujurat: 13)

    Another verse states:

“Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.” (Quran, Al-Anbiya: 92)

“We often fail to become one community because we are separated by peripheral issues, insignificant matters, separated by Malaysian batik and Indonesian batik, separated by superficial issues. Yet we forget that we are one community, we are brothers,” he explained.

This is clearly illustrated in the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that every believer is a brother, and therefore, brotherhood should be supported by faith and always promote unity.

“With my visit here, I hope it will help me in Perlis to establish the Council of Nusantara Scholars, including inviting prominent figures from Makassar who will frequently be invited to Perlis. This way, we can have a platform, a stage, or a place for us to have discussions and dialogue on how to advance our community,” he stated.

Prof. MAZA emphasized that Indonesian Muslims should not only think about advancing the Indonesian community, but also think about helping Malaysian Muslims, and vice versa. Similarly, they should think about helping Muslims in other countries.

“If the Arab world fails to unite, we, the Malay Muslim nation, should be an example to the Arab world that we can indeed achieve unity, God willing,” he concluded.

Prof. MAZA is also scheduled to deliver the Friday sermon at the Anas bin Malik Mosque (02/06/2023).

Promote the Entrepreneurial Spirit of Female Students, Keputrian Dema STIBA Makassar Holds Entrepreneurship Seminar

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – Unemployment in Indonesia ranks 59th out of 100 countries on the IMF list. It is predicted that Indonesia will have an unemployment rate of 5.3 percent in 2023. One way to address unemployment is by providing more training, opening businesses, and creating job opportunities. Becoming an entrepreneur is an effort to reduce the unemployment rate. Therefore, for the first time, the Training Department of Keputrian Dema STIBA Makassar organized an Entrepreneurship Seminar with the theme “Cultivating a Competitive Entrepreneurial Spirit.”

The activity, aimed at fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of female students and enhancing their knowledge of entrepreneurship, collaborated with Ustazah Lili Kartika Sari, S.P., a successful entrepreneur, as the speaker.

Ustazah Armida, Lc., the Head of Keputrian Dema STIBA Makassar, stated in her opening remarks that there are many verses in the Qur’an that mention trade. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Ummul Mukminin Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) were entrepreneurs, so this profession is part of the Sunnah.

She also expressed her hope that through this activity, female students could have an entrepreneurial mindset and contribute not only with knowledge but also with wealth.

In her presentation, Ustazah presented facts about unemployment in Indonesia and ways to address it. In this era, the challenges in the business world are crucial, which is why a creative entrepreneur is needed to run their business.

“An entrepreneur is someone who sincerely strives, never gives up, and continues to utilize all their abilities to generate and manage a business. They don’t stop at just facing one problem,” said the Chairperson of the Muslimah Entrepreneurs Community on Sunday (28/05/2023).

Ustazah also provided tips on how to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit and motivated the participants to become entrepreneurs with the character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

“It doesn’t mean that successful people will always be successful. Everyone has their tests. But that’s why they keep trying and fighting to rise again. We can only make efforts, and the rest is entrusted to the Provider of Sustenance. No matter how cool the creations, how much money, or how smart in making money, if we don’t have faith in the Provider of Sustenance, we will end up disappointed,” she added.

At the end of the event, there was a special door prize distribution from the speaker for participants who successfully answered questions and asked questions. Additionally, the performances and prizes from the organizers were also exciting, adding more liveliness to the event.

This activity took place at the Ummul Mukminin Aisyah Hall and was attended by all members of the five Female Student Organizations (UKM Putri) of STIBA Makassar.

Deputy Minister of Religion Becomes the Main Speaker for the Public Lecture on Digital Literacy in the Education Sector at STIBA Makassar

(STIBA.ac.id) Makassar – The public lecture on digital literacy in the higher education sector with the theme of Social Media Ethics was successfully held at the Anas bin Malik Mosque on the STIBA Makassar campus. The event, organized in collaboration between STIBA Makassar, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, was attended by various parties, including the Deputy Minister of Religion, Dr. H. Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, M.Si, as the main speaker.

In this public lecture, the deputy minister discussed the importance of digital literacy in the education sector, particularly in understanding social media ethics. He emphasized that the rapid development of information technology demands a better understanding of the correct and responsible use of social media.

“The news that comes to us has two possibilities: true or false. If it’s false, we must not spread it because by sharing it, we are also participating in wrongdoing. As for what is true, there are two possibilities. First, what is true may not necessarily be good, and what is good may not necessarily be appropriate in terms of time, place, and situation. Therefore, we must be wise in conveying every piece of information,” said Kiai Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi on Thursday (11/05/2023).

In addition, the public lecture was also attended by other speakers, namely H. Anshar Syukur, M.I.Kom., the Chairman of the National Task Force (Satgasnas) for Digital Guidance of the Indonesian Digital School Network (JSDI), and Dr. Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A. from the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and a lecturer at STIBA Makassar. Both of them shared their views and experiences in promoting digital literacy and social media ethics in society.

    H. Anshar Syukur emphasized the importance of preparing talented digital human resources, which has become a priority program of the central government. According to him, the human resources prepared through this program are not only about their skills. It is not just about preparing them to become content creators, but what is also needed in addition to that is character.

“We shouldn’t just produce content, become YouTubers, programmers, or gamers, and eventually become hackers who pose a threat to the country because of the content we create. Therefore, character development should go hand in hand with learning technology skills,” he explained.

During the same occasion, Dr. Muhammad Yusran Anshar, Lc., M.A. from the Fatwa Commission of MUI and a lecturer at STIBA Makassar, explained that information media has been known since ancient times, even during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Ustaz Yusran then mentioned several examples of information media during the time of the Prophet, such as the call to prayer (adhan) and letters.

In the concluding part of his presentation, the Chairman of the Senate of STIBA Makassar read out the essence of the fatwa issued by the central MUI regarding social media ethics.

This public lecture, attended by the entire academic community of STIBA Makassar, took place from Asr prayer to Isha prayer at the Anas bin Malik Mosque. The aim of this public lecture is to raise awareness and enhance the understanding of students and lecturers about the importance of digital literacy and social media ethics in the field of education.
